  • Allegiant Stadium will host three matches at CONMEBOL Copa América 2024™.
  • The other group stage taking place in Nevada is Paraguay vs Brazil.

Allegiant Stadium hosts Ecuador vs Jamaica on Wednesday, June 26 at 3:00 p.m. local time. The fifth ever meeting between the two countries will also be the first time a CONMEBOL Copa América™ match has taken place in the state of Nevada.

The Reggae Boyz will be participating in their third ever CONMEBOL Copa América™ and are still searching for their first ever win or draw in the tournament. They went 0-0-3 in both CONMEBOL Copa América 2015™ and Copa América Centenario™ in 2016.

However things are looking up for the island nation. Jamaica qualified for this year’s tournament by finishing third in the 2023-24 Concacaf Nations League. The Reggae Boyz finished top of Group B in qualifying and then beat Canada 4-4 on away goals in the quarterfinals to qualify for this summer’s tournament.

Jamaican players Shamar Nicholson, Bobby Decordova-Reid and Demarai Gray were among the Concacaf Nations League’s goal scoring leaders.

Ecuador on the other hand, will be participating in their 30th CONMEBOL Copa América™ this summer. La Tri are one of only two CONMEBOL nations, along with Venezuela, to have never won the tournament, but with an exciting core of young players they’re expected to push for a spot on the podium this summer.

Ecuador reached the quarterfinals of the last tournament in 2021, before losing to eventual champions Argentina 3-0.

Fans will likely already know some of Ecuador’s key players such as Chelsea FC’s Moises Caicedo, and newly crowned Bundesliga Champion with Bayer Leverkusen, Piero Hincapié.

The match in Nevada this summer will give Jamaica a chance to get their first ever win over Ecuador as well.

In the previous four meetings, Ecuador has won twice with the other two matches ending in draws. The most recent match on September 7, 2018 resulted in a 2-0 win for La Tri, with goals from Enner Valencia and Renato Ibarra.

This will be the first time the two countries have faced each other in an international competition with all four previous meetings being international friendlies.

The venue for the match, Allegiant Stadium, was completed in 2020, and is well known for being the home of the National Football League’s Las Vegas Raiders.

Since its opening, the stadium has hosted a number of high profile events such as the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup Final, the 2023 Concacaf Nations League Final, and international club friendlies between European giants such as FC Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, and AC Milan among others. Allegiant Stadium also hosted the most recent NFL Super Bowl, when the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25-22.

Paraguay vs Brazil during the group stage and a quarterfinal match will also be hosted at Allegiant Stadium, rounding out the venue’s three matches at CONMEBOL Copa América 2024™
