Bundesliga: Three South American players were champions with Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga
2024-04-15- Exequiel Palacios, Piero Hincapié, and Gustavo Puerta were part of the team that won the tournament for the first time.

On April 14th, Bayer Leverkusen won their first-ever Bundesliga title by defeating Werder Bremen 5-0 with five matches remaining.
The team led by Xabi Alonso had three South American players in its squad who are eligible to participate in the CONMEBOL Copa América United States 2024™.
–Exequiel Palacios played a key role in Leverkusen’s title-winning campaign, featuring in 21 out of 29 matches and scoring three goals. At 25 years old, he also helped
Argentina win the CONMEBOL Copa América Brazil 2021™ under the leadership of Lionel Scaloni. Palacios last played for the national team in the November 2023 World Cup qualifiers.
–Piero Hincapié is a 22-year-old Ecuadorian defender who played a vital role in helping his German team win their first-ever Bundesliga title. He appeared in 22 matches and scored one goal during the team’s championship run. He also participated in the CONMEBOL Copa América Brazil 2021™ and has played in over 30 matches for the Ecuador national team. Hincapié was a starter in the March FIFA international window match against Italy.
-The 20-year-old Colombian midfielder Gustavo Puerta played in five matches in the German league until the team won the title against Werder Bremen. He received his first call-up to the national team during the March FIFA international window.
